In The End, It All Comes Down To Luck…Or Does It?

Published by madwilliam under Behavior Edit This

Is there such a thing as luck? Is it karma? Are they they same? Does either exist?

What’s the difference between someone that’s lucky and someone that’s not? Born under a bad star perhaps? Or on a Friday the thirteenth? A family curse? A hex?

What’s the difference between bad luck and shit happens? Can you make yourself lucky or unlucky? If you’re unlucky, can you change your luck to good?

Maybe it’s all just superstitious nonsense. But if you believe that it’s even slightly possible, doesn’t that make it real? Can I believe I’m lucky and make it true?

Does luck, good or bad, stick to a person? Like an odor.  Can that person spread it to other people?

Of good luck or bad, which is the stronger? Or are they equal, like the poles of a magnet? Does luck travel through the air, like the wind? Gently affecting all those that come in contact with it before it drifts away to the next person or place?

Maybe it’s geographical. Certain places are good luck or bad. A House, street, neighborhood, county, state…Do certain personalities attract luck, good or bad?

Can a person have no luck either way? Can you be devoid of it?

Do lucky coins, buttons, horse shoes or charms do any good?

Maybe it all comes down to faith. In yourself, in God, in luck?

Can you make your own luck? Maybe there is no rhyme nor reason for any of it.

No matter what it is, or how it works, and I’m sure I’m not alone here, but, I could really use some good luck.

America The Beautiful…Yur Wit Us Or Agin Us!

For those of you that didn’t read my last post, you may want to go back and do that at this point. For this post is going to be dedicated solely to a comment received about  said post.

Are you back? Good, let’s begin.

First I would like to welcome to my blog the distinguished American Legislator from the mid west.

Here is the comment, in it’s entirety. I printed it in red because the author seems to have some serious unresolved anger issues and red felt more appropriate.

Comment:
WOW

Are you really blogging about Washington because of a bill like this when you have such a perverted view of the American legislator?

Friends don’t let friend blog drunk.

Why is it Washington’s responsibility to fix any of this. You are what is wrong with America today. Everyone wants a hand out.
What are “they doing to fix my problems”?
What about health care?
What about social security?
What about the housing market?
What about pollution?
What about this and that?

Guess what, this country was founded by principles and by people who wanted freedoms. Freedom to make their own decisions and they understood that there were consequences to decisions. They did not expect hand outs, and they got nothing without hard work, blood sweat and tears. They would roll over in their graves if they could see this country now.
Notice there are no socialist programs that where included in the constitution, or did you not read the constitution, obviously not.
They would not have even considered creating extra “laws” or restrictions under the guise of all these “Crises” we are supposedly having now.
I.e. the housing crisis, the financial crisis, the war on drugs, the war on pollution, going green, Global warming, global climate change, (weird the name keeps changing, cause it’s NOT REAL!)
These are just reasons for these “liberal tyrants” (both democrats and republicans) to control every aspect of our life including their newest attempt at healthcare to control our overall well being.

All men are endowed by their creator with certain rights, among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Where does it talk about free healthcare, or a retirement at 65, or free education or a house to live in, IT DOESN’T. That’s our (as a person) responsibility. Not the government. But again they see this as a crises that the fascists can sink their teeth into. Now they not only control our actions but take our money, and the more you make the more they take. And they decide where MY money goes. That’s called taxation without representation. Isn’t that why we left England in the first place?

Give us laws and enforce them, period. No interpretation, no loopholes. Their written in black and white.

Think before you Blog next time! I guess you can write your comments off as BWHUA
(Blogging with head up ass)

Wow indeed Sir!

Where do I begin. Let’s start with the name calling. Personally I find it a bit childish and rude considering this person didn’t even have the courtesy to sign their comment. Not to mention that they obviously read a different post than the one I wrote. What about “commenting with head up ass”? I didn’t happen to notice what blog, web site, paper etc. that you write for. (Or what state you represent)

“Why is it Washington’s responsibility to fix any of this. You are what is wrong with America today. Everyone wants a hand out.”

Well, my conservative friend, it is Washington’s responsibility because they were major contributors to these messes. I’m what’s wrong with this country? Because I want people to be responsible? Yes that is what I want. I never asked for a hand out. In fact I am opposed to our government giving bail outs/hand outs. I don’t want my money going to the same dip shits that caused most of our current problems. I don’t think anyone, especially politicians, take responsibility for anything. My being responsible is allowing me to foot the bill for all of the other asshats in this country who blame everyone but themselves.

What are “they doing to fix my problems”?
What about health care?
What about social security?
What about the housing market?
What about pollution?

Well, they are not just “My problems”, they’re all of our problems. True these things were not mentioned in the Constitution. And yes, I have read  it. However, these things have been put in place by our government. Their programs, are our programs. (Democratic society-We vote for these things) They don’t work, so let’s fix them. You have a better idea? Let’s here it. And it better include me getting all of the money I have paid in to the system back. “Social Security, you’re damn right I want it back.

They (our government) had to have my money, they pissed it away, and I’m not supposed to be upset because our constitution doesn’t say anything about being social. Think again.

Health care. Really? A healthy population is only smart for all of us. It’s the uninsured, both legal and illegal that are screwing up our health care system the way it is now. We demand that our Police, and Firefighters be public employees, what is the big deal with wanting the same of our Doctors? How can making sure we all have the same access to good health be a bad thing? No one said we have the right to health care so let’s do away with it? It’s not in the constitution after all.

Pollution. Again, Really? You have a problem with wanting the world to have clean air, water and food? I have no comment to that.

Education? Are you really against a free public education or did you just throw that in to fill space? Because you are so right. An education should only be for the rich. No one wants a public that is educated and capable of thinking for themselves. Then the politicians, celebrities and athletes wouldn’t be able to tell us what to think and how to act. Sheep foller betta when dey stupid. By all means don’t let the citizens have access to knowledge.

All men are endowed by their creator with certain rights, among these are life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

You were created by our founding fathers? Because the creators that I am familiar with gave us no rights of any kind. You’re born, and you’re on your own. It was men that decided we should have rights at all.

It was these same men that created our Constitution. A beautiful document that was meant to be “interpretative”. You see my dear conservative, the world is not black and white even if that is the way you see it. It wasn’t then, and it’s definitely not now.  Our founders knew this and created a “living document”, to grow as we,  a country grew. Hence the “Amendments”.

“No interpretations, No loopholes?” So are we supposed to follow the original constitution, letter for letter? Because that’s the way it was written?  Because I’m sure no one would read it differently.

As far as there being no “socialist” programs, you are correct. That is because they didn’t need them. Early American’s had a  sense of community. They lived in tight groups because it made survival easier.

If someone in the community were sick or had their home or crops destroyed or needed help of some sort, it was the community that got together to help their neighbor and friend.

If only there was a word for that.

Well, times have changed. The world is not  black and white. We don’t need to live in close communities to survive. We have made it possible for most people to live way beyond their means and usefulness to society. Which causes problems of over population, pollution, homelessness, hunger etc. etc. With the population growth and technological advancements we no longer need community. We became self centered and greedy.

Anyone that thinks these “problems’ only affect those that are inflicted with them, is not only deluded but  uncaring, inhuman, and selfish.

It’s about time we all take responsibility and realize that we no longer live in an isolated place but in a global community. Where our actions have an impact on the world as a whole. For better, or worse. Well don’t we have enough worse already? Isn’t it time we stand up as a country and say,” Let’s make the world a better place for all of us. Not just the fortunate, but all of mankind.”

I’m not even going to touch your denial of global climate change. The facts are there. Ignore it all you want. It’s happening.

Like all of these “problems”, they are happening to all of us. And it’s going to take all of us to fix them.
