WTF Is Wrong With Washington?
If we sat and gave this some thought, I would imagine that we could come up with a list of at least a thousand things that Washington should be working on to make this country a better place.
Just off the top of my head I would think that the top few would be: (in no particular order)
- Either of the TWO Wars we are in…
- The housing meltdown…
- Unemployment…
- The educational system…
- The banking and financial crisis…
- Pollution…
- Crime…
- The countries infrastructure…
- Mass transit…
- The auto industry…
- Social security…
- The Homeless…
- Health care…
- Immigration…
The list goes on and on. And as I think about all that our “elected” leaders should be doing, one thing that never crossed my mind: College football.
Apparently, I know nothing of what this countries real problems are.
Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, who has introduced legislation that would prevent the NCAA from calling a game a national championship unless it’s the outcome of a playoff, bluntly warned: “If we don’t see some action in the next two months, on a voluntary switch to a playoff system, then you will see this bill move.”
It doesn’t really surprise me that this was a republican. What does surprise me is that this dumb-ass has a job. Let alone a job that is to help decide how this country is run.
Did I fall asleep and Washington fixed everything? Is this all they have to do? Worry about college football?
I want to see a bill passed that states: Anyone that brings up a bill like this is automatically fired, tared and feathered and tied to a stake in the middle of his town square for the rest of us to pelt with rotten fruit and vegetables and never allowed to hold public office or vote ever again! Along with everyone that voted for that person or agrees with their asinine ideas.
I will admit, that it is not just the republicans doing these things. All politicians do it. They do it to distract us from the real problems that we face. If we are distracted, we don’t notice that they aren’t doing anything to fix the real problems. Because if they take a stand to fix a real problem, it is going to upset someone, somewhere. And when your job depends on pleasing the sheep voters, you can’t offend anyone.
Let’s hope there are a few of them left in Washington that will kick this to curb.
